It goes without saying that PC users were less than happy when they were forced to update from Windows 7 to Windows 8. PC Users resisted the switch so much that Windows 8 was blamed for lower than normal sales after it’s release. When we caught wind that the next version of Windows would be 10 and not 9 we held out hopes that they were making significant changes to overhaul the system.
Today is the official release of Windows 10, and according to Window’s Blog, “The Best Windows Ever.”
What We Love About the New Windows 10
The Start Menu is Back
We can’t even express how excited we are to have this back. Windows intentionally made the desktop, taskbar and start menu more familiar in Windows 10. The live tiles have been moved from the Windows 8 layout to being available in the start menu. This marries the live tile display with the more familiar Start Menu.
Ease of Use
The UI feels and works more fluid than Windows 8. Finally Windows includes the use of gestures and voice commands. I already see an improvement in efficiency going between apps on my PC.
Security Boosts
Windows Defender has been enhanced along with Smart Screen in an effort to safeguard against common threats like phishing and viruses. While Windows Hello provides easier login options.
Overall we like the look and feel, the speed, and the way Windows 10 works so far. None the less, as with all Windows rollouts, we anticipate having some kind of issues.
